Here's something I use for mechanical layout. The grid at the bottom aids in foot placement, and it's a simple matter to project your front or side view sketches into 3/4 views.

i do this everytime specifically for feet placement when drawing standing figures. great to see you made it clean for everyone else, thats great!

I will be giving this a try, thanks man. If you place a foot in a certain direction, are the triangles at the bottom indicators of which way the other foot should be placed in relation, or do you still just go by what looks right?

The lines are a guide to foot placement, and can be used to set them not only parallel, but at slight outward angles.

Sometimes I'll just place one foot, and project the opposing angle from that position.
